Just before they pulled it all down

No longer a pub, this building looks very similar to how it did then. Now a shop front with accommodation upstairs

The current road between Newport and Cowes was once Newport’s railway station and trains would run along the current road, across the bridge to and from the towns.

Looking south towards Medina Avenue. The shop fronts on the left hand side are almost unrecognisable.

The Vine Pub was located at the junction of Holyrood Street with the High Street. Now the home of Hong Kong Express.

The old Hare and Hounds, Newport which was removed to build the corn exchange in 1890.

Now looking decidedly modern, the Green Dragon once stood where Pizza Express was (opposite Solent Beds). The Green Dragon Hotel, is in the background of this image. In the foreground is Wells a china and glass warehouse.

Photo taken at the St James Street, Crocker Street junction looking away from Newport town centre.

This photo is taken at the junction Barton Road looking south towards (what is now ) the bridge leading from the coach car park to the cinema.

Once a picture house (cinema) in Newport, the building and its neighbour (the Hogs Head) looks relatively unchanged from the front. Now an empty venue it has most recently become Sweet Charlies.
